Rotator Cuff Tear

A complete rotator cuff tear requires repair to regain strength, stability and pain-free movement  minimising long-term damage.
05 Rotator Cuff Tear 1

Overview

A rotator cuff tear is a break in one or more of the four tendons that stabilise the shoulder joint. Tears range from partial to complete and can develop gradually or occur suddenly through injury. Most patients experience pain, weakness and difficulty lifting the arm.

Common symptoms

The procedure

Your arthroscopic repair uses tiny instruments and a camera to access the tear through small incisions. Mr Mitra repairs the tendon back to the bone using specialised anchors and sutures. This minimally invasive approach reduces tissue damage and speeds recovery.

Recovery

Early weeks focus on gentle movement and pain management. Weeks 4-6 introduce physiotherapy to restore strength. Full recovery typically takes 4-6 months with structured rehabilitation. Most patients return to normal activities by month 6.
